the journey of a hand

Our relationship with our bodies seems like it should be natural and instinctive. Who knows best how to take care of ourselves, if not ourselves? But if that were really true we wouldn't need doctors. Even habits and occupations that bring us joy can also wear us out if we don't practice awareness of our bodies' capabilities and limitations.

Olympics | ideal vs reality

It's been a while since the advent of Omicron and our family holiday scares descended on us. Whether it's due to an abhorrence to the cold unpredictable winter weather or a preference for the comfort of sheltering in isolation - for now wonder | wander | women choose not to stray far from home and neighborhood.

What else was there to do? Watching the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 ended up a grander level of entertainment than any of us could have predicted. Last week - when we wrote on our sister blog wander | wander | world about the Olympics being under fire - little did we know how big this bonfire of vanities would blow up.

Kamila Valieva, the teenager at the center of a doping scandal that has shaken the Beijing Olympics, finished fourth in the women's figure skating final - after an error-strewn performance handed Russian teammate Anna Shcherbakova the gold.

All the news reports claim it was a major upset for 15-year-old Valieva, who looked completely broken at the end of her programme. A sad testament to this young child's life spent devoted to capturing the glory of that elusive gold medal amid growing evidence of doping. No amount of deflection can turn the limelight away from the scandal.

Enjoying London at home.

It's now been nearly three years since the COVID pandemic, and people are still being infected at an alarming rate. As of today there have been an average of 69,638 new cases and 221 deaths every day. Now Boris Johnson has announced he will eliminate the requirement to self isolate, setting COVID-positive patients free to infect many others. Which means wonder | wander | women will stay at home. But we still want to enjoy and support our favourite neighbourhood shops and cafes, and we still can.

2022 Feb 02

2022 is the Year of the Black Yang Water Tiger. Tiger year is quite the contrast after the plodding, nose-to-the-grindstone energy of the metal Ox of 2021.

Tiger energy is dual in nature - the excitement, clash, dramatic highs paired against swan-dive lows. All set amidst periods of absolute stillness as the Tiger waits for its prey to drop their guard.
