AGO mon amie

This June found the US part of wonder | wander | women back in Canada for a family vacation with our niece, nephew and their kids.

Warrior with Shield by Henry Moore

On our one day away from them the sisters walked over to the Art Gallery of Ontario which Mahala and I visited last year and where we fell in love with the Inuit art of Kenojuak Ashevak and her nephew Timootee (Tim) Pitsiulak.

Infinity Mirrored Room by Yayaoi Kusama

Although their pieces were not on display there now we still had much to feast our senses on. We were so preoccupied we missed Yayoi Kusama’s INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM - LET’S SURVIVE FOREVER.

Thanks to the generosity of the David Yuile, Mary Elizabeth Hodgson Fund and over 4,700 #InfinityAGO donors the exhibit is now a part of the AGO’s permanent collection. Saved for our next visit for sure!

Our final stop before we ended our indoor visit was the museum shop where we treated ourselves to loads of their fine greeting and note cards.

Outside we took a tour around the building to appreciate its modern architecture, the original old structure behind, the adjacent art and design school and its surrounding park grounds.

The park and OCAD University from behind

We had to rush back into the shade and cool air all too soon to escape the blistering heat of summer even up North. We quickly dropped some change for a buffalo drumming street busker.

This gave us license to shop around the cafe and galleries across the main drag. Where we took some selfies with our fave Vincent street art.

We even passed some historical landmarks and policed protesters on our walk back to our hotel. For now au revoir Canada.
