In Japan the blossoms of the cherry tree represent the ultimate beauty, but because they bloom and fall so quickly, they also represent the brevity of life. wonder | wander | women always feel a sense of loss when we see the clouds of pink thin out and begin to show more new green leaves.

This briefly dazzling season has inspired many poets to compose melancholy verses praising the beauty of cherry blossoms and mourning their quick passing. In our mind, cherry blossoms seem to go well with poems of mourning in general.

When he lamented the scattering blossoms,
he already knew the sorrow
that would remain with his children
beneath the tree.
In Luoyang, from east to west,
A long way to travel when saying farewell.
When I left, the snow was like flowers,

Come quickly -
as soon as these blossoms open, they fall.
This world exists
as a sheen of dew on flowers.
Even amidst the blossoms,
my bag of poems
remains empty.
Like candle flames, we are transfixed by the fleeting beauty of the sakura flowers, and even when we regret their passing we can only be grateful that we were able to see and enjoy them when they were there.
