Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.

Nowadays that could mean several things to many different families. 

Our family gathered together.

As humans evolve and as our individual and collective attitudes change in views and perspectives, so too do females and our roles expand or are restricted.

Show and tell family trees have gotten a lot less clear and much more complex. As partners come together and drift apart. As choices vary, differ, and grow. As families form, inform, and formalize. 

With our parents & grandparents

We ourselves are a single parent raising a single child in an extended family of shared homes within a compound and across the world. 

Conservative and traditional family views and values were dropped and changed to accommodate this unconventional situation with the happy arrival of a baby.

Typical to any extended family, each and every member has a vote and countless opinions - helpful or not, constructive or otherwise. 

We are blessed to have weathered them all for the better, grown stronger and closer because of it, and been redeemed by our circumstances.
