primary vote

Across the United States of America, Tuesday’s primaries highlighted tensions in the Democratic Party between progressive and establishment camps.

While in many Republican primaries, the leading candidates competed to be the most Trump-like as they wooed conservatives.

Over here in New Jersey voters battled for the U.S. Senate. Newbie is a wealthy moderate Republican ex-pharmaceutical executive, Bob Hugin.

To contest Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez who is trying to move past the corruption charges that he beat last winter which led to him being “severely admonished” by the ethics committee.

A surprisingly stiff primary challenge from an opponent who raised almost no money. Tuesday's results in five House primaries sets up our fall elections.

Menendez defeated Lisa McCormick of Rahway, 49, publisher of a community news website. She said she ran to give voters “more and better choices” and attacked Menendez for having “disgraced” New Jersey.

She lost. He won. Menendez will face Republican Bob Hugin in the fall. Caught between a rock and a hard place.

The results suggest that the state could be a political battleground in the November election for the first time in a long time.

What we do between now and then may just define the outcome. Vote wisely!
