the bells of Notre Dame

Devastated at the news of the Notre Dame disaster. It's difficult to believe that just a few weeks ago wonder | wander | women were in Paris to pay tribute to that iconic silhouette.

Like all the tourists I had to take the 'we were here' selfie or else how could I bear to tell people I was in Paris?

The horror of seeing smoke pouring from the ancient building was magnified because it was preserved in our minds as eternal, the classic backdrop of a hundred dreams and films.

More of a romantic symbol and an icon not just of Paris but of France itself...how could this beautiful cathedral be the site of such horrific destruction?

The French and global community are already uniting. Massive donations have been made to restore the church. In fact this disaster inspired donors to support more communities in need, for example in Louisiana where arsonists destroyed three struggling churches.

We hope that this can be a beacon of hope in increasingly dark times, a reminder that humans can help each other through any disaster. Let the bells of Notre Dame ring again!
