be the change

That famous quote we all attribute to Gandhi, "be the change you want to see in the world," was not what was actually said. What he did say was:

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. This is the divine mystery supreme. A wonderful thing it is and the source of our happiness. We need not wait to see what others do.” – Mahatma Gandhi

If we want to inspire change in our communities, both showing and telling can matter. People are more receptive to learning their behavior should change when they are being acknowledged.

Approaching our peers with kindness and compassion, keeps them open and more receptive to reflect on whether our behavior is in line with the values we associate ourselves with.

Personally, this approach to life has been healing. Instead of feeling burned out by anxiety and angry with the world, we can breathe more easily. Knowing that we are doing everything possible makes whatever the future holds more bearable.

wonder | wander | women are careful not to give advice unless it is asked for, although we are happy to give guidance to those who want it. Every day in any way we explore how they can live more harmoniously with the Earth. It is important to be flexible and adjust according to each individual. 

tears & fears & feeling proud

Fear and fury are rational and reasonable reactions to the climate crisis, the injustice of inequality, the insistence on ignorance. etc. These emotions serve an important role in the healing of our people and all of planet Earth.

This is a journey that calls for a lot of love. Community matters - choose your close ones wisely. The pressure to buy more, travel more, and be more sloughs off easily enough - replaced by matters of greater import.

There is no more important work one can undertake than to raise human consciousness, and to do so requires us to start within.
