wonder | wander | women spent the weekend hunkered down as Storm Darragh rampaged through the UK, bringing driving rain and wind speeds of up to 50kph. It brought back memories of bagyo (typhoons) back home...at least we didn't lose power here, so we spent the weekend playing cosily at home instead of our usual walks and errands.
there goes the sun... |
We just finished a pretty intense painting course and we're drawing for fun again. I follow a few artists on Youtube who are very into journaling, planning and designing their own stickers, and I thought it would be fun to try.

It's interesting to get into hyper-specific details of my hobbies. I drew a lot of doodles of my most used art supplies, as well as some characters to do all these fun activities.
Designing characters, using the Uniqlo website for reference. |
These little characters can be our avatars, carrying on with all our hobbies, or they can be aspirational and have hobbies we aspire to, like running or making music.
The issue is having too many art supplies! We have so many different kinds of pens, markers and tools, even our favourites make a long list. Which means there are a lot of cute things to draw.

If you're stuck indoors and love art supplies, online shopping is just too much of a temptation. Just this past Black Friday I discovered a new favourite ink called Diamine Deadly Nightshade, a deep purple ink with green shimmer and two tiny skulls floating in the bottle!
Pen and ink is our favourite medium and there are so many gorgeous inks and a ton of ways to use them: you can paint, draw, colour and anything else just with ink. In fact we love to do entire illustrations with a single colour because it breaks up into so many pretty shades.

Creating doodles for stress relief is also good for long dark days. wonder | wander | women always find ourselves drawing feminine figures with lots of trailing hair, which we love to draw in all sorts of intricate patterns. It's also relaxing to fill in the lines over time whenever we need to unwind.

This week will be the last of Storm Darragh, but it's leaving behind cold, moody days. Whatever the weather, we hope to fill our notebooks with the colour and warmth we are missing this winter.
