Lent 2025 begins on Wednesday March 5 and lasts until April 17. Lent comes from the old English, lencten, which means spring.

Lent is just another of the church's festivals built on an existing cycle of celebration. In this case it falls around spring equinox - signaling the end of winter and the birth of spring.

The world turns and seasons change - so does our rhythm and activity. Bursting through our old shell we replace resistance with sprouting intention.
The old melts off with the snow - new growth spring up, ideas are attended to and protected to prosper. Our hearts warm up and budding tendrils reach out their feelers.

Nothing can be rushed as we surrender to Earth's wisdom. We stand in balance at the equinox - between open anticipation and patient reverence. Present to the gift of life and death - pacing and progress.
