wonder | wander | women kick off our birthday celebrations - starting the month of July and ending in September. Because our birth needs so much more than just one day of celebration each year. 

As the year shifts from winter and spring into summer and fall - so too does our perspective on what has transpired so far. Birthdays are benchmarks that mark our progress throughout life and lifetimes.

Our cosmic calendars are loaded - July is set to be a life-altering month filled with emotional depth, surprising shifts, and opportunities for powerful breakthroughs.

How we do anything is how we do everything. In the flow and cycle of life - all is interconnected. Give and take, ebb and flow, high and low. An infinite loop of reciprocal exchange. 

Yet all too often we no longer remember this - much less prioritize it in our lives. Like all universal laws though - ignorance of the law does not exempt us from it.

It takes incredibly little to keep the balance or shift the energy to get back on track. Often it's as simple a disrupting or distracting oneself. Walk in nature, bake a cake, take a bracing shower.

Our high school classmates gathered recently to celebrate our May celebrants. Being seniors and elders the talk quickly turned to the state of our health. While we were enjoying the gift of our good health, a few recent scares reminded us just how precious life is.

As our meal was served and we gathered together in laughter and conversation, our voices dipped and rose, joined in a cascading torrent of words. Competing to be heard, constantly interrupting challenged trains of thought, punctuated by loud howls of laughter.

It's been six months and this long drawn visit of wonder | wander | women finally comes to an end - all too soon. Especially as it's been a week closing with several birthday activities. Intimate one on ones, group meet ups, family gatherings. 

It's just never enough - no matter how well prepared or purposefully planned. Stormy weather, blustery winds, and hard rain all week are not the best send off at all.

Good thing our little island knows best how to host a fun fiesta and have a blast of fun. Food, food, lots of incredible food. Friends, family, all our relations. At home, out and about, or out of town. Whatever, however, forever!

September started of with a bang as Mahala celebrated her 41st birthday on the first of the month. In joyful celebration wonder | wander | women lined up a few choice songs to celebrate the occasion.

In true family tradition we decided to extend the joyous celebration as long as we could. Join us as we sing our lungs out and dance like crazy.

It's a wonder | wander | women birthday post! Mom celebrated her birthday a few days ago and it's our tradition that I draw or paint her something for her birthday. Our favourite motif is the divine figure of the bodhisattva from Thai Buddhist art or the diwata of Philippine folklore.
